Bugbug style is a little-known style of Selonding in Karangasem that dates back to the 12th century. Bugbug style has instruments with 48 keys that are thicker than Tenganan style, and with a lower tuning. Each instrument has an octave on the ends of each 8 keys that are arranged over two boxes, starting either with low nding or low ndong. The mallets are also bigger and heavier, and the jegogan instruments are shaped more like giant anvil hammers.
