Terms & Conditions

These online shopping terms and conditions apply to all orders which you, the customer place using our website, which is operated by Mekar Bhuana Gamelan & Dance Online Store. Please read them carefully before placing your order and print a copy for future reference.

By using this website you accept and agree to be bound by these online Shopping Terms and Conditions, the Privacy Statement and such other policies as we notify you of from time to time, which together constitute the entire agreement between us. Nothing in these Online Shopping Terms and Conditions affects your statutory rights, either as a consumer or otherwise. 

Your Account

You may register with us when purchasing items using this Website. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account username and password and for preventing unauthorised access to your account. You agree to accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account or password. Please take all necessary steps to ensure that the username and password is kept confidential and secure. Please inform us immediately if you have any reason to believe that your username and/or password has become known to anyone else, or are being, or are likely to be, used in an unauthorised manner.

Please ensure the details you provide us with on registration are correct and complete and inform us immediately of any changes to those details (e.g. change of email or postal address). You can access and update your details using the "Your Account" area of the Website.

We reserve the right to refuse access to the Website, terminate accounts, remove or edit content, or cancel orders at our discretion. If we cancel an order, it will be without charge to you.

Privacy and Communications

When you place your order, we collect certain personal and transactional information (e.g. name, address, email address, credit/debit card details). For details on how we use this information, please read our Privacy Statement.

To fulfil our obligations to you under these Online Shopping Terms and Conditions we communicate with you by e-mail and by posting notices on the Website. You agree to receive communications from us electronically and that electronic communications will satisfy any legal requirement for communications be in writing.

The contract between us

When you place an order to purchase items using our Website this is an offer by you to us to purchase those items. We will confirm receipt of your order by sending you an email summarizing the details of your order ("Order Confirmation E-mail"). We accept your order only when we send an e-mail confirming that we have despatched the items in your order ("Despatch Confirmation E-mail"). The contract between us is formed at the point we send the Despatch Confirmation E-mail in respect of those items mentioned in the Despatch Confirmation E-mail. If your order contained a number of items and the Despatch Confirmation E-mail mentions on some of them, those items which have yet to be despatched to you do not form part of that contract.

Payment Methods

Mekar Bhuana Online Store accepts only the payment methods explained on the Payment Options page, with no exceptions.

Payment Conditions

Payment is always 100% upfront with no exceptions for any products of any value. Shipping may be paid for separately should this be requested by Mekar Bhuana Online Store.

Customers are required to send proof of transfer for all transactions, particularly bank transfers. This is so that Mekar Bhuana Online Store can check that our bank information (or, in the case of PayPal, email address) is spelt correctly and that our bank account is correct. Banks in Indonesia require that all the information is 100% correct - any inaccuracies in the spelling or writing of Mekar Bhuana Online Store's bank account, account holder, address (including the bank's address) or phone number which result in a transfer being returned to the sender is not the responsibility of Mekar Bhuana Online Store or the bank in Indonesia.

Order Cancellations and Refunds

Orders which have not yet been paid for may be cancelled by the customer. However, we do not offer refunds on orders already paid for. In the case of orders that are cancelled or altered (reduced) after payment, we are able to offer a credit for future orders in the case that we have not yet paid our supplier(s) for the ordered product (according to our records and discretion).


We only sell items to adults (i.e. those aged 18 or over). If you are under 18, you may use this website only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.

Colours, specifications and dimensions of products

We have made every effort to display the colours, specifications and dimensions of items on the Website as accurately as possible. The colours you see will depend on the resolution of your monitor, we cannot guarantee that your monitor's display of any colour will reflect accurately the colour of the item delivered. Depending on availability from our suppliers, we may from time to time vary the design, colours, dimensions, specifications and quantities of items displayed on our Website without prior notice.

Substitution Items

Mekar Bhuana Gamelan & Dance Online Store reserves the right to substitute it with an item of equal or greater value than the original, or issue a refund for the product.

When substituting we will always attempt to substitute with an item as similar as possible to the original order.

Product Quality

Whilst we make the utmost effort to check the quality of all products from suppliers on our store, since we are only providing a platform for suppliers to display and sell their wares, we are not responsible for the accuracy of terms such as 'best quality', 'good quality' etc. The understanding of such terms varies from supplier to supplier, and the standard of the word 'best' and 'good' in Indonesia may not be equivalent to the same standard in other countries. This is due to the fact that most products are handmade and that many products are produced in bulk due to high demand for ready stock. Products of the highest quality would need to be pre-ordered which may take weeks or even months for custom made production. The standard of products on our store is the standard expected/accepted by the vast majority of professional musicians, dancers and puppeteers in Bali.

Second-hand and Antique Products

Second-hand and antique products sold on behalf by Mekar Bhuana Online Store are sold in the condition in which they are received from the seller. Mekar Bhuana Online Store shall not be responsible for damage due to age or quality, as it is often  difficult to determine this remotely. Upon arrival at Mekar Bhuana Centre, should the customer further request cleaning, restoration, repair or replacement (for example, if a key, pot-gong or gong turns out to be cracked or broken) of products, further charges shall be incurred and borne by the customer. Should the product be rejected for shipping due to rot, dirt or insect (termite) damage, cleaning and additional fumigation costs shall be borne by the customer.

Customs Duties

If you order items for delivery outside the Indonesia they may be subject to import duties and taxes. These are levied once the items reach the specified destination. You, the customer are responsible for any import duties incurred on your own purchases. Mekar Bhuana Gamelan & Dance Online Store has no prior warning on whether these charges may be incurred or what value they may be. Customs policies vary widely from country to country, so you should contact your local customs office for further information. Please note that for items you order through our Website you are considered the importer and must comply with all laws and regulations of the country in which the items are to be delivered. Please note that cross-border deliveries are subject to opening and inspection by customs authorities. Mekar Bhuana Gamelan & Dance Online Store cannot guarantee that your goods will arrive in the same condition that they were despatched should they be subject to inspection.

Shipping Transit Times

While we may provide a guideline for shipping transit times by both air and sea mail / cargo, we cannot guarantee the accuracy of arrival times. If an order is taking an usually long time to arrive, Mekar Bhuana Online Store shall endeavour to connect with the postal service or cargo agent to track the whereabouts of the said order.

Un-received Orders which have already been posted/couriered/freighted

Orders which have already been posted/couriered/freighted but are un-received by the customer and have been proven to have not reached the territories of the country of destination are the responsibility of the chosen postal service/courier/cargo company in Indonesia, not Mekar Bhuana Online Store. Proof will be by way of lack of a customs' service stamp in the country of destination.

Orders which have already been posted/couriered/freighted but are un-received by the customer and have been proven to have reached the customs' service/postal service/courier company/cargo company of the country of destination are the responsibility of the destination country's customs' service/postal service/courier company/cargo company. Proof will be way of a customs' service stamp in the country of destination.

In the case that an order is undeliverable (e.g. due to an unclear/incorrect address/phone number or customer absence at time of delivery, orders should be returned to Renon Post Office in Denpasar, Indonesia where in turn Mekar Bhuana Online will be informed. Then the customer concerned will be contacted and should the customer still wish to receive the order will be responsible for the charges of reshipment and repacking (if necessary).

Lost Products

In the unlikely event that an order is misplaced during transit to the customer's country of destination/postal address, in the first instance the order should have been returned to the sender (Mekar Bhuana Online Store). In the case that an order goes missing without trace (for registered post items which are not trackable), the customer must inform Mekar Bhuana Online Store that the order has not arrived; in turn, Mekar Bhuana Online Store shall inform the Indonesian Postal Service who shall take action.

Damaged Products

Mekar Bhuana Online Store is not responsible for any damages during transit – any damages are the responsibility of either the postal service in the destination country or the Indonesian Postal Service.

Should any products be damaged in transit, an insurance claim will need to be made by the post office here in Bali, which requires coordination with the destination post office. Upon receipt of any damaged products, the customer must immediately contact their local post office. Customers must make clear photographs the damaged product(s) and the packaging and file a report with their local post office. Once a claim report and number has been filed and received then Indonesian post office shall decide whether an insurance claim can be made.

If an insurance claim can be made, Mekar Bhuana Online Store shall be reimbursed for the damaged product, however the customer will need to cover re-shipping costs. The insurance claim process may require some time as many products on Mekar Bhuana Online Store are handmade and will have to be produced again, in addition to the postage time.

Tracking Shipped Items

Our default air mail shipping service is registered post, which is also the most reasonable air mail service from the Indonesian Postal Service. The registered post tracking system is very basic and not as reliable our more expensive service called EMS (Express Mail Service). Should a customer wish to be able to reliably track a product, the customer shall need to request the EMS shipping service.

Items sent via sea mail and EMS can be tracked via an online tracking system, the details of which shall be emailed to the customer upon items being shipped. This tracking system can only track the whereabouts of items before they leave Indonesia and then upon entry to the destination country. Details during transit as well as details after arrival in the destination country are not available to either the Indonesian Postal Service or Mekar Bhuana Online Store.
